Is the US About to Start a Global Food Fight?
June, 2017 – The Trump administration is preparing to release the results of an investigation that could impose limitations on imported steel and aluminum on the grounds of protecting U.S. national security. Some industry analysts fear that US agricultural products may be vulnerable. Europeans may respond to restrictions on steel and aluminum with their own tariffs, and that U.S. agriculture could be a target.
The Washington Post has published an article that outlines the administrations argument to impose restrictions on any imports that it deems a threat to national security. The problem is, so says the article, is that the same argument could be used for other countries to retaliate against US Ag products as they comprise one of America’s biggest exports. Read at:
