What
is the mission of the web directory? |
|
| |
|
The mission of all of our web directories is
to save busy industry professionals time by linking them to
meaningful and useful online resources. Our average user has
limited time to spend online and relies on our sites to
provide them with a quick guide to what's online. |
|
|
 |
What sites are included in the Web Directory? |
|
| |
|
The sites included in the web directory are selected by our editors
as useful sites for industry professionals. We do not
allow companies to pay to be included in the database. We do accept sponsorships for
categories, however even these links are reviewed by our editors for relevancy
and usefulness and sponsor links are always clearly marked. |
|
|
| |
What criteria determine
whether a site is included in the directory? |
|
| |
|
You will notice that the number of sites in
the web directory is limited. After spending an hour
browsing from the web directory an executive should have a
good sense of the industry resources the Internet has to
offer. Our editors scour the web looking for meaningful and
useful sites that satisfy the mission of the directory and
selected sites are reviewed to determine if they meet the
mission. Since our average user is online for a limited
number of hours each month, we are careful not to not
overload him/her with thousands of pages of links. |

Is
the web directory the same as a search engine like Yahoo or
Google? |
|
| |
|
No - we are not running a search engine.
Search engines are compiled by automated software programs
that attempt to link you with information based on search
terms. While they play an important role on the Internet,
search engines will return millions and millions of links to
sites that may or may not be related to your needs. In
addition, the top results that are returned by a search engine
are often advertisements disguised as
links. Because study after study has proven that users
seldom view results past the first 3 - 5 pages returned by a
search engine, we have attempted to keep each category in
the directory to a limited number of 'useful sites'. |
|
|
| |
When I enter a term into the
search box - exactly what am I searching? |
|
| |
|
You are only searching our directory of sites.
the number of sites included in the directory is
limited by design. Often your search is better performed on a major search
engine so if our directory comes up empty you will be given an opportunity
to click over to a major search engine. |
